Holiday Creations

I've been working on a necklace for over a week. It is 6 strands of knots and beads, the shortest strand is 20 inches long and the longest strand is 24 inches long. The beads are shades of purple and mauve. The black thread is metallic and glitters in the light. This necklace is fabulous! I love it!!

I also designed a gorgeous Holiday Bling Necklace for a New Year's Party! This necklace was inspired by a necklace on display at Target.

You can find these on my Facebook page: Deeliteful Jewlery Creations

Holiday Bling Blog Hop II Reveal

I participated in the first Holiday Bling Blog Hop and had an absolute blast!

This one was a bit more challenging.

My partner for HBBH II was Renetha Stanziano of Lamplight Crafts. She is a very talented lady!! She and I emailed back and forth to get to know each other. However, when crunch time snuck up on me, I was stumped!! Renetha takes a "minimalist approach" to Christmas decorating so she and her family can focus on more important aspects of the Holiday season. She also doesn't wear jewelry, but she loves non-matching earrings.

I didn't pay close attention to the emails and made a beautiful Christmas ornament:

However, before I sent the ornament, I re-read her emails and READ them well. So, I gave the ornament to my daughter-in-law. She LOVES it!

I was left with my dilemma - what do I send Renetha. I thought and thought. Then I realized I should send her some gorgeous lampwork beads - made by ME! And some non-matching earrings! I also threw in a couple of really awesome leaf links.

Now - what I received from Renetha was Stunning to say the least! I am in love with my new piece of jewelry! (BTW - I had a variation of this necklace pinned on my Pinterest)

Thanks to Marlene Cupo and Shelley Graham Turner for once again hosting a fun blog hop!

Just for laughs!

WOMAN'S WEEK AT THE GYM: If you read this without laughing out loud, there is something wrong with you. This is dedicated to everyone who ever attempted to get into a regular workout routine.

Dear Diary,

For my birthday this year, I purchased a week of personal training at the local health club. Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Christo, who identified himself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear. Friends seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.

MONDAY:Started my day at 6:00 am. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it
when I arrived at the health club to find Christo waiting for me. He is something
of a Greek god-- with blond hair, dancing eyes, and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!!
Christo gave me a tour and showed me the machines.. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which he conducted his aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring!
Christo was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time he was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week!!

TUESDAY:I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Christo made me
lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then he put weights on it!
My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. His rewarding
smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT! It's a whole new life for me.

WEDNESDAY:The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. Christo was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. His voice is a little too perky for that early in the morning and when he scolds, he gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Christo put me on the stair monster. Why the hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Christo told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. He said some other shit too.

THURSDAY:Asshole was waiting for me with his vampire-like teeth exposed as his thin, cruel lips
were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late-- it took me
that long to tie my shoes. He took me to work out with dumbbells. When he was not looking, I ran and hid in the toilet. He sent some skinny bitch to find me. Then, as punishment, he put me on the rowing machine  -- which I sank.

FRIDAY:I hate that bastard Christo more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anemic, anorexic, little aerobic instructor. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat him with it. Christo wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damn barbells or anything that weighs more than a Mars Bar. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director?

SATURDAY:Satan left a message on my answering machine in his grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing his voice made me want to smash the machine with my planner; however, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.

SUNDAY:I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD
that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my husband will choose a gift for me that is fun  -- like a root canal or a hysterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!

Holiday Bling Blog Hop Reveal

Two awesome women I admire hosted this event, Shelley Graham Turner of Fabric of My Life and Marlene Cupo of Amazing Designs, to get us in the Holiday Spirit!  The object was to exchange something that was created by us that reminds us of the Holidays and exchange with a partner. My partner was THE incredibly talented Marla Gibson, of Spice Box Designs

Marla and I discussed exchanging beads, ornaments, or jewelry. In the end, we decided to exchange jewelry.

I was excited and waited with anticipation.

Meanwhile.... I drew a blank on what to create. I mean - wow! Have you seen Marla's work

So I thought.....
 And I thought....

And I thought....

Then... one day, I had an idea!

I remembered this is a HOLIDAY BLING blog hop! I decided to create a holiday bracelet, complete with Christmas bells and Christmas lights! Off to work I went. And this is what I created for Marla. Little did I know she has a "thing" for bells!!

My anticipation paid off. Marla is a very talented lady. Check out this BLINGY bracelet. I love the sparkly rhinestones. This is a piece of art. I think of snowflakes when I wear it. And I wear it nearly every day!

The clasp sparkles too. I am very proud of my pretty snowflake bracelet!!
Thanks Shelley and Marla!! This was a fun blog hop!!

What Inspires You?

Most of my inspiration for my jewelry designs come from my dreams.

Occasionally, I am inspired by trending jewelry pieces I see in department stores.

My inspiration comes from many places, but solitude is a requirement!

Where does your inspiration come from?

Pay It Forward - Handmade

There’s a new game doing the rounds for bloggers. It’s called Pay it Forward—Handmade.

I came across it on Melissa Trudger's blog Pay it forward - handmade, and since then I’ve seen a few more bloggers playing too.
Here’s How It Works
I’ll send a surprise gift to the first three commenters on this blog post. The gift will be a handmade surprise by me and will be sent to you some time in the next 365 days (yep, mystery gift at a mystery time).

Here’s what you need to do, leave me a comment and make sure you include your email address (if your profile doesn’t include it). I’ll email you for your snail mail address and ask a few questions (likes/dislikes, favourite colours, sizes, general stuff like that). No international shipping, please.
To complete signing up you MUST play along too. To do this you must blog a similar post and pledge to make a surprise gift for the first three people who comment on it.
So, do you want to play? Comment below and I’ll sent a thoughtful handmade gift to the first three people who do.
Let the fun and games begin!

Do you have a jewelry-making item you've never used?

I purchase things to make jewelry constantly. Beads, findings, scrap-booking finds, ribbon, thread, and so on and so on! I have tons of beads I've yet to use. I see them and know I will use them somehow, somewhere, someday!

Occasionally, I buy something because its on sale, with the intention of using the item sometime. Beadcaps! I purchased a large quantity on eBay because they were an excellent price. Very pretty filigree beadcaps. I have never used them. Why? Why? Why?
I can't seem to find the right bead, necklace, bracelet, earrings, to use them with. I think to myself - "next time!" But they never seem to make it into the design. Or, they don't look right. Or, I just plain forget to use them!

I hope someday to use them in a fabulous design!! I vow to find the right beads for my pretty beadcaps.  I'm also looking for alternative methods for using them. I know someone out there has used them for something other than a bead cap. What could it be!!???

Suggestions anyone?

Do you have something you bought to make jewelry, but have never used?

I purchased 4 bracelets - 3 stretchy bracelets and 1 on memory wire all with similar color schemes.

As I was leaving I saw the awesome 70's style belt. OMG! I MUST HAVE IT!!
